We asked random students a new question every day and they wrote the answer on the door. P.s. This was our team for the week.
Me, Stone, Jonas, Hannah and Jael.
I will be honest with you, I have always really hated doing outreach in my own country, I think because I find it so vulnerable when I know the culture and the language. i feel very exposed. Last week I felt very sad that my heart for my own nation was so passive, especially with all that is stirring in this nation right now. I asked God to forgive my passivity in my own nation and to start to put a passion in me for my own people.
This last week we spent at The university of Sussex was a probably one of my favourite outreaches!
why?
As a team we saw so much fruit and could just see God working in so many obvious ways. 3 people decided to follow Jesus in 3 days! (one wasn't even a student but a construction worker who happened to be on site)
There was also so many incredible conversations with students who really wanted to follow God but just had so many questions on how that is possible in 2024 with it seeming to go against everything society is saying. We got to share with them why comitting to Jesus is something you will never regret and shared our experiences of him. We got to connect those who we met with the students on campus so they can continue to receive discipleship in their faith. There are so many stories from the week I cannot fit in!
It was really a privilege to be able to support the christian union, they were having their events week which meant for a whole week they had free food and talks about different aspects of God and christianity for anyone who wanted to come. We got to help hem with reaching out to the students on campus, help them practically with events and get to do some talks ourselves. It was so great to see how the christian union grew in boldness in just one week and also how much they supported one another. It is this kind of community that we need!
I had the honour of sharing my testimony with the crowd. For those of you who don't know university was one of the hardest times in my life where I stopped following God and started to look like everybody else, struggling with addiction and a lot of shame. I so wish I had chosen to follow God and get int a community in that time but it was so redemptive for me to go back to a university campus and share with them how not to make the same mistakes I did and how God restores and rebuilds and ultimately wants the best life for all of us.
This was so special for me and sparked a passion in me to reach university students in the nation.
So please will you pray with me that we will get more open doors and opportunities to be able to go into universities and share the gospel and support our brothers and sisters there?
some photos for you:
What is next? We are moving closer towards our DTS, We have 11 applicants so far and we are praying for our staff team as there has been complications with getting them here from Brazil. We hope to take our staff team to one of our bases in Europe to do some staff training and bonding together. When we did this last year it was so fruitful and so much fun and really bought us together as a team.
If you have made it this far...
Can we ask for your prayers?
For more opportunities to go to universities in the UK
For the students we met they would continue to deepen their relationship with God.
For our DTS staff team to be able to get here (For them to have the finances)
For the right trainees to come
Our personal finances, I'll be honest; we are having a hard time in this area. We have lots of things coming up where we need to see a break through in our support.
If you feel led to give towards our ministry or want to share with someone how they can; go to our support page for more info.
